This artmaking activity took place at Fusion’s Film & Arts Festival, Art Exhibition opening and the Film Fest Screening. The activity consisted of an “artstorm”— where people could stop by, make use of our supplies, and take unleash their creativity alongside others. Participants created both “graffiti slaps” or “slap stickers” as well as posters centered around the festival’s theme “If I Ruled the World.”

Since the InFusion Film and Arts festival happened during both pride month and Junteenth, we aimed to uplift and celebrate Black Queer folks. “If I Ruled the World” isn’t just a reference to the iconic Nas and Lauryn Hill song, it’s an opportunity for marginalized folks to envision a world where we can express true agency over our own lives. This perfect world  might only be a dream now, but through collaborative art making it can become a reality.
